October is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month!

Americans love their popcorn. In fact, between 16 and 17 billion quarts of popcorn are consumed each year in the United States. For over 30 years now, we’ve celebrated the wonders of popcorn in October with National Popcorn Poppin’ Month. Though the event has been celebrated for over a few decades, October was officially named National Popcorn Poppin’ Month in 1999, by then Secretary of Agriculture, Dan Glickman.

Healthier Easter Basket Ideas

Easter-2014-Healthy-Easter

Easter candy is a BIG deal. But lately, we think it’s gotten slightly out of hand. Just how many chocolate bunnies, Reese’s eggs, and jelly beans does one child need?

That’s why we decided to come up with slightly healthier treats that are perfect for Easter baskets. Sure, there are still some gooey marshmallows and chocolate-drenched confections on the list, but they’re pretty tame when compared to the bulk of Easter handouts.

Homemade Peeps

Making marshmallow Peeps may sound like a daunting task, but it’s surprisingly easy and much healthier than those bought at the store. (See this recipe for further instructions.)
