Let's Make Popcorn Garlands!

Christmas tress originated in Germany in the 1500s. When German families immigrated to the United States, they brought the Christmas tree tradition with them. Like many "American" traditions, the Christmas tree started somewhere else and was eventually blended into popular culture. It wasn’t popular to have a Christmas tree in the United States until the mid-1800s when Queen Victoria of England was pictured in a US newspaper with Prince Albert and their children decorating a royal tree. Queen Victoria inspired an entire cultural revolution (the Victorian era) during her reign, including the adoption of the Christmas tree! Trees were originally decorated with homemade ornaments and candles, including popcorn garlands.
