Katie Straw

Katie Straw is a connoisseur of cheap wine with an eclectic taste of music and a bookshelf full of journals. She spent most of her early years in the Garden State (yes, she loves that movie) but moved to New Hampshire just in time for middle school.

After attending Fryeburg Academy up in Maine, Katie was accepted at the New Hampshire Institute of Art to try her hand at illustration. Lucky for her (but not for her classmates) she wasn’t that great of an artist and decided to pursue a degree in her true passion: writing. She transferred to the University of New Hampshire and obtained a BA in English.

Currently, she resides in Manchester, New Hampshire where she spends her days creating food failures with friends and reading fashion magazines on the porch. Every morning she wakes up and fails to go running, forsaking exercise for a larger cup of coffee.

She enjoys long walks on the sidewalk, drinking too much water, Yves Saint Laurent, and has an obsession with pizza. You know how people sometimes ask if you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Well, she always says pizza – with everything on it. That way, she could pick off certain things and have a different type of pizza every day. Plus, the things she picked off could be eaten as snacks later. (She’s big on snacks and thinks she’s very clever for coming up with this. Don’t tell her she’s not, it’ll ruin her day.)
